Voca Mocha?

Waterloo (Ontario) Region's premier show choir! Why another choir in a region rich with the highest quality choral organizations? Certainly our community offers a wealth of classical singing experiences under the directorship of some of the most respected choral educators in Ontario and beyond. But there has been little beyond the high school jazz choir experience to keep our talent engaged in popular singing styles.

Voca Mocha is an auditioned choral group singing "popular" repertoire, anything from musical theatre to jazz, to bluegrass, to gospel, to modern pop, and more! Each unique voice is a soloist on her / his own and is often featured as such. The talents do not stop here. Add some instrumental playing and choreography and you have a complete entertainment package that will delight audiences of all ages!

Our Mandate

To afford young adult singers (high school to 30-ish) in the Waterloo Region:

  • the opportunity to sing quality popular song arrangements, explore a variety of modern singing styles, and understand the stylistic differences among them.

  • the opportunity to be educated and encouraged in the technical aspects of modern music performance practice - improvisation, harmonizing by ear, manipulation of melodic and rhythmic structures and ornamentation, for example.

  • the opportunity to create an entertaining choral performance for our audiences!

  • the opportunity and encouragement to enhance their ensemble and solo singing expertise.

To afford upcoming stage talent in our region:

  • the opportunity to perform with a choir in professional settings and venues.

  • an opportunity to get their "name(s)" out in the community and beyond.

To afford our Waterloo Region - and beyond - audiences:

  • an upbeat, inspiring and entertaining choral entertainment value several times each year.
